Dr. McIntosh obtained an undergraduate degree in pharmacy before completing her medical school training, two years of a pediatric residency and then an adult psychiatry residency.

A widely respected psychiatrist, author, educator, podcaster and patient advocate, Dr. McIntosh’s career-long focus has been to improve access to psychiatric care through education and technology. In 2011, she co-founded SwitchRx, an online resource used by more than 100,000 healthcare professionals. In 2018, she founded PsychedUp CME to provide high-quality psychopharmacology education focused on the confident, rational prescribing of psychiatric medications. In response to the inaccessibility of psychiatric care, in 2019 she founded RAPIDS, an innovative technology developed to support clinicians to optimize and personalize their psychiatric care, reducing suffering and improving patient outcomes.

Dr. McIntosh has helmed three podcasts, PsychedUp, Blindsided and Wicked Mind. She’s published three books, including This is Depression, Stress: The Psychology of Managing Pressure, and most recently, You Belong Here. In March, 2025, she was honoured to receive the King Charles III Coronation Medal for service to Canadians for her psychiatric advocacy and education.

Dr. Ric Procyshyn is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, UBC. He also holds the position of clinical research psychopharmacologist at the BC Mental Health and Addictions Research Institute and acts as a consultant for the BC Psychosis Program. Along with his Doctor of Pharmacy degree, Ric possesses a Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry. Ric has authored over 150 articles in peer-reviewed journals; is the principal editor of the Clinical Handbook of Psychotropic Drugs; and is the co-developer of the SwitchRx website. Dr. Procyshyn enjoys teaching and has been awarded several teaching awards from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of British Columbia.

Head of Growth & Strategic Partnerships

Chris Breikss is the Head of Growth & Strategic Partnerships at SwitchRx, where he leads efforts to expand the platform’s reach and impact across Canada and the United States. His role focuses on growing the healthcare professional user base, developing partnerships, and securing licensing agreements that drive long-term value for the company.

Before joining SwitchRx, Chris led the digital agency Major Tom for 25 years, helping hundreds of organizations scale their digital presence. He also taught Mobile Marketing and Strategy at the University of British Columbia’s Continuing Studies program and now sits on the board of SECUR3D, an AI technology company transforming digital copyright and IP protection by using proactive AI-powered analysis and moderation to secure designs.

At SwitchRx, Chris is driving the rollout of the redesigned website in Q4 2025 and spearheading growth initiatives in CRM and AI-powered automation. Looking ahead, he is also working with the team to explore how SwitchRx’s millions of medication switches and its 100,000+ clinician users can power new AI-driven innovations for the future of clinical decision support.
